ELIGIBILITY: Youth, ages 8 - 17, must be referred by a professional agency. These youth, ages 8 - 17, may be in conflict at home or school and may be victims of abuse or neglect (once referred, youth and family must attend a Parent/Child Orientation and the child must be interviewed by Partners staff. Then, the youth is on a waiting list until we are able to provide a One-to-One Mentor.)
SERVICES: to improve the lives of high-risk youth, and of those with whom they interact, by helping them develop a positive self-image, promote self-esteem, improve attitude, to show these youth that they have options, to give them new experiences and to offer them time and space in a nurturing environment,  and foster a sense of belonging, and hence responsibility, to the community by promoting positive changes in youth,  and an acceptance of accountability through Partnering relationships with adult role models.  programs are a year long one-to-one relationship with caring adult volunteers who spend three to five hours a week for one year with a child. . 
--provides unlimited individual counseling support and low cost monthly recreational activities.
--Support groups designed specifically for the volunteers provide an open forum for the exchange of ideas and suggestions, as well as for networking.

  • CAREER SERVICES
    ELIGIBILITY: all (sliding scale) (intake by telephone or walk-in)
    SERVICES: provides individual career counseling workshops, employment information and referral. Career counselors assist women and men exploring career interests, job hunting techniques, writing resumes, interviewing skills and exploring education opportunities.
    --Myers-briggs Type Indicator and Strong Interest Inventory available. Job Search Support Groups and workshops on interviewing, choosing a career and other job related topics are held regularly.
    --The resource center provides information on local businesses, job announcements and financial aid/grants in addition to information on careers, the job search, education and training for both traditional and nontraditional jobs, along with an office equipped with computers, fax and copy machine (available for a low fee).
  • CHILDREN'S ALLEY
    Eligibility: healthy and well babies and children from birth through Age 12 (sliding scale) (intake reservations 303.449.1951 - to schedule for Mondays call from 4-6pm the Friday
    SERVICES: drop-in emergency child care center sponsored by the YWCA. (Examples of emergencies include medical or legal problems, ill baby sitter, parent needs time to his/herself). To schedule Mon-Thurs call at 4pm the evening before.
    --Short-term child care is available up to 10 visits per month. Contracts for children over 2 are available for 2 to 6 weeks maximum.
  • SINGLE PARENT PROGRAM
    Eligibility: all intake by telephone (sliding scale small donation is requested for the support group and child care is provided.)
    SERVICES: offers an on-going support group facilitated by a professional with experience in working with single parents and the issues which single parents face.
    --A divorce education series is also offered periodically. This is a series of workshops conducted by lawyers on topics ranging from mediation to child custody. Call the YWCA for more information. 303.443.0419
