(for low-income individuals)

--Many Medicare Managed Care Plans under the Medicare + Choice program cover prescription drugs up to certain dollar limits, sometimes for an extra cost.
INFORMATION: (and L-click on the "Prescription Drug Assistance Programs") or telephone 1.800.633.4227.

These programs can offer the most help if you don't have other prescription drug coverage and if your income is less than $19,000 if you're single or $25,000 if you're married. But if you have a higher income, you may also find some help.

--Beginning in January 2006, more than 14 million people with Medicare who have limited incomes and resources may be eligible for extra help from the government to assist with prescription drug costs.  This extra help will pay for between 85 percent and 100 percent of prescription drug costs for those with limited incomes and resources.
--At least seven million of these people will not get this help automatically, so they must apply for it.
